Cyber Security

Cyber security refers to the protection of data, networks and systems in the cyberspace. For businesses who want to operate in the cyber world unimpeded, an understanding of cyber security is necessary. Given how important business online has become, business executives have no choice but to do a proper investment in cyber security.

In the cyberspace, security threats have been dominating the headlines and remain the main rationale behind many world governments’ attempts to invade people’s privacy. What’s more, as more devices connect to the internet and the world embraces Internet of Things, cyber security is not an area that any organization can afford to ignore.

Cyber security deals with three main cyber risks:

Cyber War

This is when a nation or state conducts espionage or sabotage against a rival nation with an intention of extracting or disrupting data. Cyber war often uses Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs).

Cyber Crime

This involves organized groups or individuals working alone, seeking to extract data, money or cause cyber disruptions to businesses or individuals. Some of the most common forms of cybercrime including debit/credit card information theft, blighting a website’s operations, and theft of intellectual property.

Cyber Terror

This is when an organization conducts terrorist activities on the cyberspace.

Today, many organizations are investing heavily in cyber security so that they can stay ahead of cyber criminals. They employ ethical hackers to test the robustness of their systems and identity security vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit.

World governments are also doing their best to find security solutions and be a step ahead of other nations in the invention of cyber warfare strategies and defense systems.
